Manish Patel

Hi there! My name is Manish. Welcome to my learning journal!

The journey began on freeCodeCamp and eventually led to Scrimba. I toyed around with some of the free courses before enrolling in The Frontend Developer Career Path.

How I stay committed to learning

I have always been interested in learning new things. I even taught Freshman English for a few years at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have also worked as a corporate trainer.

I have always enjoyed the process of going from ignorant to knowledgeable, and web development is no different. I love discovering new technologies and seeing how they work. I also love the process of turning a bare-bones HTML document into a dynamically styled and interactive page.

How I got started

I made my first website in high school and didn't work with them much again until I studied to be a Technical Writer. My career as a technical writer also involved learning DITA XML, which is syntactically similar to basic HTML.

I started off with a basic web tutorial from MDN. The process reminded me of making my first web site and how much I enjoyed it. After that, I worked on the modules available on freeCodeCamp and Codecademy, and then moved on to the Front-End path on Scrimba.

I'm excited about starting my journey as a student of Front-End Web Development! I've always wanted to learn how to design websites but never knew how to get started. With Scrimba, I'll have a chance to learn in a new and unique way.

It's hard to learn anything new without a map, or guide, to show you the way and point out all the potential pitfalls. But that's part of the learning process itself: sometimes there's a willing hand to hold, other times you're on your own.

I've completed a few solo web projects and it feels good to finally have them deployed on the web! It's tough working in isolation on something that's meant to be viewed by others. I look forward to hearing feedback, positive or negative, on the work I've done so far.
